Eligibility: -The candidate should have a strong background in modelling of mulitphysics problems as well as be interested in doing experimental work and be willing to work in an international, multidisciplinary research team.
-The candidate must have obtained a doctoral degree since no more than 5 years or must obtain the PhD degree until the end of 2011.
-Good knowledge of English (oral and written) is important.
-Knowledge of German would be an advantage.

Scholarship Description: Empa is the interdisciplinary research and services institution for material sciences and technology development of the ETH Domain. For a joint project, the Structural Engineering Laboratory and the Concrete / Construction Chemistry Laboratory.Together with our teams at Empa, you will develop new mulitphysics models for spalling of highperformance concrete during fire. You will implement numerical models based on thermodynamics data and porous media properties of concrete and verify your results with actual fire tests.
